Digital Preservation Policy

Prospherus Scientific Journal upholds a strict commitment to the long-term conservation, permanence, and perpetual access of its digital editorial collection. In order to ensure the immutability and availability of the published scientific literature in the face of technological contingencies, a comprehensive active preservation strategy is carried out, based on the following pillars:

Redundant Backups: Automated daily backups are performed on the central database and on all files uploaded to the OJS system. These copies are stored in encrypted form on secure servers with decentralized geographic redundancy, independent of the main web server, ensuring operational continuity and full system recovery in the event of a disaster.

Interoperability and External Harvesting (OAI-PMH): Through the permanent activation of the Open Archives Initiative Protocol for Metadata Harvesting (OAI-PMH), the collection, indexing, and decentralized storage of metadata and articles in trusted global repositories such as Dialnet, Latindex, and Google Scholar is enabled. This open ecosystem ensures the distribution and multiplication of backup copies across international academic nodes.

Archiving in Perpetual Preservation Networks (PKP PN): The platform is officially integrated into the PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN). This decentralized system uses the specialized LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) software to create permanent, secure archives distributed across multiple nodes of global university libraries. This ensures that the scientific output remains intact, accessible, and fully recoverable in perpetuity in the event of contingencies or interruptions to the institutional portal.

Active Institutional Deposit: The editorial team systematically deposits each published volume and issue in flagship digital libraries, national catalogs, and open access institutional repositories. This principle of controlled redundancy ensures that identical safeguards exist across multiple public storage systems for posterity.
